Nana Marti is a Swiss citizen of Georgian origin, born and raised on the Georgian Black Sea coast. From her mother’s lineage she descends from a Georgian Baroness’s family.

She went to school in Sukhumi. After graduating high school, she took a Master’s degree in English Language and Literature at Sukhumi State University, where she studied five years. There she also studied Latin Language (3 years), Philosophy (4 years), Psychology (3 years) Literature of Foreign Languages (5 years), Law (2 years), and did a special course for training as a medical nurse. After graduating the university she took a one year course for simultaneous translation in Moscow. She worked with an International Touristic Company in Sukhumi as an interpreter. Later she founded her own Private Touristic Office. She left Sukhumi with her family in 1992-1993, during the first Georgian-Russian war. For a short time she worked in Tbilisi, as a war correspondent and interpreter, helping foreign journalists to relay news abroad from the war zone. In 1992, while being in the war-zone, she met her future Swiss husband, who was the head of the Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Sukhumi at that time. In 1993-1995 Nana lived and worked in Moscow, Russia. In 1995-1996 joined her future husband in Czech Republic for one year break from his assignments, where she was teaching English at a High School. In 1998 she got married and left Georgia to join her husband in his missions: India, Bangladesh, Colombia and Montenegro. While travelling she took up water-colour painting, inspired by one of her ex-patriot friends. After building a portfolio she subsequently held two personal exhibitions – one in Switzerland and one in London.

In 2003 the couple settled down in Ticino, Switzerland, where they joined the Anglo-Swiss Club of Locarno. From 2003 to 2008 she took several courses to study Italian and German. In 2007-2008 she also took special courses in Private Coaching on “Das Geheimnis des Erfolgs”.

In 2008-2009 she accomplished Corso Di Formazione Dei Formatori Di Adulti , Reformation School for Trainers Teaching Adults according to European Credit Transfer System in Camorino, Ticino. The last two courses helped her to understand better the well-structured Swiss system of the Government and its functioning.

She teaches English to Adults, at the same time continues her two most passionate occupations: writing and painting. Has written an autobiographical novel based on her multicultural experiences.

In 2014 she had been elected President of the Anglo-Swiss Club of Locarno. In June 2019 she handed over the position to her replacement.
